Artificial Intelligence is amazing. It can help with creative projects, track business spending, and assist with surgeries, just to name a few. Technology has come far and can be a blessing if used in the right way for the right reasons. It is, however, imperfect. It can’t do everything and has its limitations. One of its limitations is that it does not contain the anointing.
The anointing is the power of God. God graced prophets and kings with it all through the Old Testament, enabling them to fulfill their assignment and work miracles. He also gave it to Jesus to empower Him for His ministry on earth.
…how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him (Acts 10:38).
Notice, though, that none of the miracles performed by God through people utilized AI. Instead, they relied on the power of God to represent God on the earth. AI did not split the Red Sea in two. AI did not cure Naaman of his leprosy. AI did not plant the son of God into Mary’s womb. And AI did not resurrect Jesus’ body. It cannot do what the supernatural power of God can do.
Thankfully, God did not exclude us from the anointing. When Jesus went back to heaven, He gave us the assignment of representing Him and sent His Spirit to empower us for the task (Acts 2).
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen (Matthew 28:18-20, NKJV).
And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover” (Mark 16:15-18, NKJV).
But in a culture engrossed in technology, it’s easy to rely on man’s inventions to fulfill our call. Though AI might be able to assist in getting the practical done, it cannot meet the needs of people and break the devil’s power. It can’t give man a new, born-again spirit made in the image of God. It can’t operate in the gifts of the spirit by prophesying the past, present, or future. It can’t endow the Body of Christ with redemptive gifts to change their world. It can’t lay hands on the sick and see them recover. It can’t cast out demons and speak with new tongues. It can’t impart ministry gifts to the Body of Christ to help us grow. It can’t inspire us with creativity from heaven to run our businesses, write our books and movie scripts, raise our kids, and love our spouses. No, when it comes to the supernatural power of God, AI is inferior.
Before we stand in awe of AI and rely on its abilities, we need to rely on God. He is, after all, the One who made AI possible in the first place. Without His intelligence, there would be no technology. Remember, never rely on something artificial to do something only God can do.
‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’
Says the Lord of hosts (Zechariah 4:6b).
Good article! The Holy Spirit is more certain than AI for sure
